title: French bin strike: Paris holds its nose as waste piles up source: BBC News url:  https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-64950503 my questions: After spending some time reading this article, I saw a paragraph suggesting a health concern, which was claimed by a specialist. It said, "The strike triggers a change in rat behavior". I wondered "Where are the proof and statistics?". I hoped this part should be given more information regarding rats' threat to humans. However, I think one of the questions to be asked about this article is, "Where are the citizens' perspectives towards the strike?". The author tended to focus more on the government's retirement reforms and left out the part of outsiders or citizens' feelings and opinions towards the strike and the tonnes of rubbish around the city. Finally, I was also thinking of the question, "Is there a clear distinction between a news article and an opinion?". I noticed that, for s...

topic: French bin strike: Paris holds its nose as waste piles up source: BBC News URL:   https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-64950503 summary: The article talks about how garbage bins in Paris are overflowing and talks about how refuse collectors currently retire at the age of 57 due to the difficult working conditions. They describe the situation as an all-you-can-eat buffet for 6 million rats in paris, which double the human population. The rats will rummage around the bins, produce there and leave their urine, which is concerning to the health risk for refuse collectors and the general population. reaction: I think that Macron (the french president) should find solutions for this as soon as possible, because this is a really serious matter. I also think that French population and tourists should start taking care of the environment very seriously.  question: what can the French population do to help with this matter?

title: Can we really measure implicit bias? maybe not source: Tom Bartlett date: January 05, 2017 URL: https://www.chronicle.com/article/Can-We-Really-Measure-Implicit/238807 Summary: This article explains in-depth on the entirety of Implicit Association Test or IAT, a test that evaluates your implicit bias (or unconscious bias for easier understanding). The author also introduces Hart Blanton, a professor of psychology, who has a rather strong criticism towards the test – questioning the accuracy of the test and its value. Aside from that, the author also shares the information about the dispute between Blanton and one of the main people behind the IAT.  Reaction: Unconscious bias is somehow a complicated topic that people should discuss more often as it kind of controls the way we judge others by races, appearances and many more categories. It can be harmful in many aspects of communicating and interacting among humans of different races, and our world in general. Questions: Is I...

I chose an owl because I think it represents me the most. Owls sleep during the day and wake up/hunt during the night. Just like me, I usually stay up late and I like to nap during the day. I also prefer going out at night because I don’t like the lighting during the day.
