summary: This article talks about how the phrase “sushi terrorism” emerged on Japanese social media after a viral video was posted. The video shows a teenage boy licking a soy sauce bottle and putting it back at a Japanese conveyor belt restaurant. After the video went viral on many platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok, Japanese people are enraged by the action. Even though the boy deactivated his social media account and apologized, the police are still taking legal actions. After the incident the diner will have new dining rules and security cameras will be installed as a result of the prank.

reaction: The article makes me feel disgusted and sick, it’s unbelievable how some people are not ashamed by the things they do. As everyone might know Japan is known for their high standard cleanliness, so I can’t believe this happened in Japan. I think the police taking legal actions is the right thing to do and the boy should be fined or punished accordingly so he would learn his lesson.

questions:

*how can we stop this happening in other places or other restaurants?

*how should parents educate their children to not do something like this?

*what should we do to prevent this kind of action?

  1. Yeah, I agree that it should take legal action. I can't imagine eating something after some stranger just licked it. Thinking about his saliva is enough to make me don't want to eat in the restaurant. How did the police took legal action? Was he fined?

  2. It is not funny at all, how did he do that! It makes us to rethinking about the cleanliness in restaurants if we are using the seasoning in there is that clean? Is anyone doing something disgusted before we use. to the boy he should know what he should or shouldn’t do, so the police might have some punishment to make him learn some lessons (*・ω・)ノ

  3. Good summary and good reaction; you write quite well. Some things that I wonder: In these modern times, we are surrounded by people with smartphones capable of taking videos and many businesses, schools, parks, governments and more monitor our every move, it seems. Individual privacy is a big concern. Now this restaurant wants to install security cameras. Is there something else that the restaurant could do, rather than install even more cameras? Could they change their conveyor belt model into something else? Just a few thoughts, and I don't pretend to have any answers. How about you?
