title: Can we really measure implicit bias? maybe not

Summary: This article explains in-depth on the entirety of Implicit Association Test or IAT, a test that evaluates your implicit bias (or unconscious bias for easier understanding). The author also introduces Hart Blanton, a professor of psychology, who has a rather strong criticism towards the test – questioning the accuracy of the test and its value. Aside from that, the author also shares the information about the dispute between Blanton and one of the main people behind the IAT.
Reaction: Unconscious bias is somehow a complicated topic that people should discuss more often as it kind of controls the way we judge others by races, appearances and many more categories. It can be harmful in many aspects of communicating and interacting among humans of different races, and our world in general.
Questions: Is IAT the only method to evaluate or measure the unconscious bias? Is IAT inaccurate as Blanton suggested? Can unconscious bias be cured in any way?
Did you take any IAT test?
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've read it's a good writing about the article, but I'm wondering if you've taken the IAT test or not because if you've done this I would like to know what you think about it.
